We're going to be upfront with you here and admit we don't really understand what Roblox is. We get Minecraft, and our brains are all clued up on Fortnite, but Roblox? Not a scooby. It's one of the most popular games in the world right now, however, so news that it may one day come to PlayStation consoles is worth reporting on despite our gap in knowledge.
Speaking as part of the company's Q1 earnings call and reported on by GamesRadar, Roblox Corporation CEO Dave Baszucki simply said: "Switch, PlayStation, Quest - all of these platforms make perfect sense for Roblox." It is a bit odd there's not even a PS4 version of Roblox to be fair. The game has been around on PC since 2006 and it was ported to Xbox One in late 2015, but that's quite literally it besides mobile versions. Maybe Microsoft has some sort of console exclusivity deal in place? We doubt it, but it is peculiar that a game as popular as this one isn't available everywhere.
As recently as June 2020, Roblox had 150 million active monthly players. Yeah, this really is one of those games that is quietly absolutely gigantic. Do your kids play Roblox? Enlighten and educate us in the comments below.

Had a lot of fun with Roblox as a kid back in 06/07, haven't kept up with it since tho
Yeah, so my kids will never get off my Playstation....
It hasn't been on PlayStation because it is a terrible quality game. But Sony can't avoid the cash it makes for much longer!
I only heard of roblox, never played it
My kids love roblox ,I despise it,trying to explain to a 6 year old that daddy can't finish the level because its a broken mess ,and not because I'm crap at games is really difficult 😂
@vapidwolf lol, I know the pain of those badly made games and I’m telling my 6 and 9 year olds who love Roblox that they have so many better games but it keeps drawing them back in.
I often lose my phone so they can play two player (with the other on the Xbox). I’m not sure I want to lose my PS4 to it also.
Having said that, it makes total sense for the developers to expand to the PlayStation and Switch.
Basically, Roblox is a Dreams where creators have a way to monetize their work. It is more of a gaming platform then a closed product. It makes perfect sense that it is not on the PlayStation if creators from Roblox don't have a way to profit from their creations. I don't know how it works in that area with Xbox though.
Zooo ROBLOX really have a ceo? And It's a real company? I though it was made by a 8 year old just for fun. (yeah It's that bad) Sony would never allow such crap on Playstation. They're not even allow cyberpunk. First make it playable. My Kids play it on my Phone. But all it does is crash and heat up your Phone.
Oof all the hate for Roblox when it's a really just a decent little game beyond the roleplaying games in there, there are some fun games on Roblox. Kinda like Dreams but with blocky characters, more fleshed out and it's kinda hard to find games you'd like. It's not for everyone but it would be cool to see it on consoles beyond Xbox if done right.
It's a question that's been asked ever since the XB1 version popped out - but still no sign of it for the PS4.
Only question is it a problem with security or anything regarding the different user created levels and so on - bit like Sony getting twitchy when anyone mentions mods.
Hey Push Square, Roblox isn't a game. It's an "experience".
I have very low expectations for a product that immediately changes it's entire identity based on something Apple says about it during a trial against it's competitor.
really hope my daughter never notices it 🤣
@Milktastrophe Well, I mean, Roblox knows it can't go up against Apple, so they're trying to reduce the risk of them having to do so. Besides, it doesn't change much at all, only the names of things.
Company wants to expand its reach to make more money. Surprised it hasn't happened already to be honest. Must be something holding it back.
Can’t believe the hate for the game on here. Sure it’s target audience is 5 to early teen but that’s ok, they’ve a right to game too. 150 million users tends to say they’re on to something.
My 12 year old daughter loves it, just builds towns with her friends. She’s turned into quite the architect/ interior designer. I’ve seen nothing but a positive experience from it. Better than 7 year olds playing GTA or COD.
Take them blinkers off and have some perspective!
My daughter asks me to play this with her everyday and when I wanna get off of it my excuse is always that my iPhone or iPad makes my hands hurt when I play games on them. I was about to show her this story and neglected to after thinking it over. My PS5 is for Elder Scrolls Online and Ratchet & Clank. She has her iPad and PC for Roblox.
As a parent of three kids, I'm begging you Sony, don't let it happen
Hadn't heard of it, saw it has VR support on PC, though. Will give it a shot if it comes to psvr. I played Rec Room which I think is kind of similar and some of the mini games were decent, mixed community, though. Most people were cool but there are always very unhappy people playing, too.
Doesn’t this game rely heavily on user created content that Sony has blocked in the past? The PS version of mod stores for Fallout 4 is a shadow of what is available on Xbox and Windows.
I don't get the appeal of it when the game has.... that as its artstyle. It is hideous to look at.
played it 10 years ago and it has no right to still be relevant in 2021
That’s the entire team at pushsquare confirmed to not have kids 😂
@Tharsman that’s because of some nonsense with Sony not liking changed assets, Roblox maps are no different to say custom made GTA online games.
Most likely Sony scared off a playstation version with restrictions on cross-play, a tax on cross-play, and a high percentage cut of in-game purchases.
Yea that's the thing my daughter spends hours with every day on her laptop. I'm not sure what it's really about because it's more than just one game.
I doubt a PlayStation port would be as engrossing. More like a sort of demo like the xbox port.
'Make Perfect Sense' because this is another game that prints money.
